Review Books: If I am Given a Cookbook to Review, Shouldn’t I get the Recipes?

If you are new here, welcome. This site is full, and I mean FULL of reviews. Mostly books, though in the beginning it was mostly movies and TV shows (though there are still plenty of those).

Because I review books, and I try to finish a book a day (sorry y’all, it has been busy! I should have another done for you tomorrow!), I get a decent number of requests to review books.

Here is one problem that I recently had. I was given a cookbook that had no recipes in it. Am I only supposed to review the intro to each section? Honestly, I generally don’t even read those when I buy a cook book. Oh, look, how interesting! No. I buy a cookbook to make new food. And, yes, I still use actual books. It makes it easier for me to find things.

At the same time, what do you want from a cookbook review? I am a decent cook, but no chef. So, I can give it a review based on how easy it is to follow the instructions and how difficult I think it would be if you had absolutely no cooking skills what so ever.

There. Mini rant done.

Also, I think Chemical Engineers are the ideal people to try out your new cookbook. Just saying.
