Ash and Bramble: A Book Review

This is what I call a proper fairytale turned on its head. I loved this book. I am so glad this is the first book I read in 2017.

Written by Sarah Prineas, this book follows Pin and shows us the dark underbelly of a Story that always has a happy ending. The dresses, shoes, food, and magical items have to come from somewhere! Now, if you are looking for a word for word retelling of any version, don’t read this. And if you love your Grimm versions, don’t read this.

But, if you are like me, and love ANY (well written) versions of our favorite classics, this is a must read.

Let me know if y’all would like some spoilers! Otherwise, I think I will leave it here for now.

One SPOILER

I didn’t like the ending in this book. We see Shoe and Pin realize they love each other and discuss not being able to be with each other because they are two different. I don’t like this. I do not support this thought. You can make things work if you want to – that is what sacrifice is about. I get it, love is not everything. I mean, I have been single forever, I do understand that. But still!
