I love to read. I have since I was in the second grade and read the 3rd Harry Potter on my own.
That being said, I have not read a HP book since high school. Since the last book came out and I binged it. I need to say, to write, that as I continue. I have, and regularly, re-read The Count of Monte Cristo, Bad Blood by Debra Doyle and James McDonald (an excellent unknown gem), and a selection of others.
I read a variety of novels, that I hope is always growing. I read some non-fiction (but am very picky), young adult, fiction, science fiction, fantasy, mystery, classics: a lot.
I have read so many books that, now, I am try to find something unique, and trying to express my thoughts on what I have read. I look at the writing style, the EDITING, the story, how original it is, how close to life, how well woven.
I want to find something that speaks to me. I will admit, I am a bit worried that I have joined the forever alone club. And part of that, has come the search for books that really show all the relationships that we have in our lives, no matter how fleeting they may be.
Don’t get me wrong, I do love a good love story, and I adore my happy endings, but sometimes when I start a novel, I don’t what to know what will happen. I don’t want to know that the two best friends are actually in love with each other and just don’t know how to express that love.
But, I could be asking too much from most modern authors. We will see!
