Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine: A Book Review

Written by Gail Honeymoon, Eleanor is a duck of a different feather. Very prim and proper, she has worked at the same job for the last 10 years and is happy with that. She considers most people rude and without manners. And… she is just a bit odd. After meeting and being drawn into the new IT guy’s life, we get to see why she is the way she is, and get to see her as a real human.

I know that this is a really well liked novel, and that there is a movie coming out for this book. And I think this might be a case were I enjoy the movie more than the book. Knowing what she was thinking took the humor out of this novel. If this had been told in 3rd person, or from another character’s perspective, I probably would have liked it more.

This is a great novel for those who enjoy contemporary novels that have characters with complex backgrounds and attitudes.
