Revisiting Making Faces

Making Faces (click the link to read the original review), is such a good book. Hands down. This is the second time I have read this book, and even anticipating what was going to happen I got punched in the gut. Multiple times.

I didn’t almost cry from a book, you did.

The reason for this re-read (which now puts me 3 books away from a blackout in book bingo!) is the fact that it is the book club book for next month. This choice was a surprise for me, as I now the person who picked this book. Her other options were fantasy, and I thought she would go for one of those.

Boy, am I glad I was wrong.

Ambrose, Fern, and Bailey are just such amazing and realistic characters. I adore each of them. This is a novel where you come to know the characters, because they remind you of you or people that you know. This is a novel about loss, life, and living.

In particular, because this is a re-read and SPOILERS because I want to, I really enjoy that we get to find out when Ambrose and Fern had a child, and that his name is Bailey. I would rather love to see more of Ambrose and Fern, but more so in short stories. The little things.

Really, this is just such a fantastic book. Go. Read it. It isn’t new, but so good.
