Weregirl, a Book Review

Weregirl, written by C. D. Bell (but actually conceived by a publishing group?) follows Nessa after she has been bitten by a wolf. She has been chosen.

This is one of the most Young Adult novels I have read in a while. I found myself cringing constantly. I think, well, I know I would have enjoyed this novel far more in high school. The problem is that the focus isn’t put on the relationships with the other interesting characters but with Nessa dealing with science and who she is. That is normally a good thing in a book. But I wanted to see more of Luc, more of Chayton, more something. Her relationship with Bree is fantastic, and I just wanted to see more of the other characters.

If you are a teenager looking for something that mixes science and fantasy, this would be a really good choice for you. As an adult, the plot and relationships just didn’t hold my attention.

And, for those reading this, I will not be continuing this trilogy. The reason I read this book (I remember putting this on a list at one point and just never getting to it) is the fact that I had picked up the last book in the series only to find out it was the last book, put it down, and get this book. The reason I won’t be continuing is I went and looked at reviews for the next two, found out she isn’t really with Luc in the third one, and I also saw the … change from the first to the second. Big changes can work for characters/stories, but I had no desire to read how that happened. I think a permanent wolf was involved.

The other thing about the reviews that I read that were helpful – that there were plot holes and also that the writing just wasn’t good.
