A Justified Murder: A Book Review

The second novel in the Medlar Mystery series A Justified Murder (click the link to pick up your copy), the first was A Willing Murder, Jude Deveraux has picked up about 6 months after the first novel. Jack’s leg is healed, he aunt Sara, and Kate are all living in Sarah’s house, and things are going pretty well. That is until the sweet old lady who helped them solve the last murder ends up dead, with the potential of multiple killers.

This novel has the same feel as the first, which is very made-for-TV-movie feel, and that is really what makes this enjoyable. Fast paced and terribly quick witted, this novel kept me moving throughout it.

Kate, Jack, and Sara are just a delight to read. The other characters in the story have some level of depth, but because of these three you don’t really need those other characters.

I do with that Kate and Jack would just end up together already. When I heard that the second novel was out already (the first was only just released back in October) I can honestly say that I grabbed to see what would happen with the two of them.

This isn’t the best written novel or most compelling. This is a fun novel that is a good fun weekend read or a little escape from reality. Am I planning on reading the next book in the series and possibly all the books in the series? Yes. Yes I am.

If you enjoy humorous books and fast-paced mysteries, this is a really good read for you. If you enjoy sweet and silly romances, this is also probably for you. If you want characters with a lot of depth, a story that makes you think, and writing where even the secondary characters are clearly well developed… okay, maybe look at reading something else. The writing is decent, and the dialogue is fast.
