The Skeleton Takes a Bow

Written by Leigh Perry, The Skeleton Takes a Bow is the second novel in the Family Skeleton Mysteries, a Cozy Mysteries series. This novel picks up with Sid and Georgia, and Madison, in the spring semester of the year. Madison is in Hamilton, giving her and Sid an excuse to have him come to school with her. One evening, when Madison forgot Sid’s skull at school, Sid believes he is witness to a murder (most foul – sorry, couldn’t resist).

This is definitely a cozy mystery, and was a fairly quick read. With that, this novel didn’t move as quickly as the first and had far fewer references, but was still well written with a really good twist (or 4) to it.

Sid and Georgia are back at it again, and their dynamic is just wonderful. The play off of each other, help each other, and are just wonderful. The reader also gets to know Madison better outside of her obsessions.

There isn’t any romance in this novel – so if you are wanting that, highly recommend you keep looking. A good mystery that I didn’t figure out right away. Well written, good characters, overall an enjoyable read.
