Stillhouse Lake: A Book Review

Written by Rachel Caine, Stillhouse Lake follows the ex-wife of a serial killer, running from all of the people who hold her accountable for the murders her husband committed on the other side of the wall without her knowing. With two children to protect, she has become Gwen Proctor and attempted to learn from her mistakes while leaving their past behind.

I really liked this novel. Gwen is convinced, and rather correct, that everyone is against her. That she has a bad picker. With that, she is the most loyal mother to her two kids, and the kids really do understand where she is coming from. She is such a vivid character, though she takes the extreme view on a number of things.

I was a fan of the sort-of love interest. Honestly, that character was well written and interesting. Probably one of the strongest things in this novel is how well written the characters are, as the plot leaves you not knowing where in the world you are going until about the last quarter of the novel.

The writing, overall, was well done and engaging. Highly recommend.

Who would enjoy this novel? People who like mystery and can take a book that has very dark twists. Very dark.

All rights belong with the publisher.

Alright, I really liked Sam. Even though it did turn out he was a stalker, I still really liked him. Javier, not so much. He annoyed me.

Totally called the killer from the get go as well.

Also, SO excited to see where all of this goes? Can she really trust anyone??
