Storm Cursed: A Book Review

Written by Patricia Briggs and the latest novel in the Mercy Thompson series, this book has Mercy and her pack, the self-proclaimed protectors of the Tri-cities area, as they are having to deal with what that means. Goblins, zombie miniature goats, and black witches are just the beginning.

This isn’t the first novel in this series, far from it, and as such this will have spoilers for the previous novels and I DO NOT RECOMMEND HOPPING IN ON THIS NOVEL.

This is the least of the series for me. Now, hear me out, its still a good book and I’m glad I read it, Storm Cursed just isn’t the same as the other books. The pacing was a bit more odd than normal, and a lot of things were just so much more… awkward than in previous novels.

Again, this is still written well, I still enjoyed this novel, it just doesn’t have the same feel as the other books.

It’s also odd to think that in this world, only 3 years have passed since the first novel. A lot has happened in that amount of time.

With that, I think this might be my favorite novel when it comes to the interaction between Mercy and Adam, even with both of them being terribly busy. They have a relationship that is something that a lot of us want, would like, and deserve. They both respect each other, and even though they want to wrap one another into bubble wrap, they let each other live.

And Sherwood. I love Sherwood. I want to know everything about him. And all of the other support characters. Some times, it feels like they are more real, more rounded, than Mercy in this novel.

If you enjoy this series, this is definitely one you need to read, just prepare yourself a little. If you enjoy werewolves, fantasy, urban fantasy, and a lot of action, this is a wonderful series.
