Written by Paula Brackston, the second book in the Found Things series, Secrets of the Chocolate House picks up with Xanthe a little while after she has returned to her own time, and before she has really gotten over the wonderful Samuel. She and her mother are continuing to grow their antique shop, and the ever helpful Liam is still there. However, when Xanthe hears another object singing to her, she gets sucked back into the past.
Alright, this is going to be a completely spoiler free review.
The biggest selling point for this novel, and really all of Brackston’s novels, is the writing. This style is like going for a lovely stroll, that just keeps you spiraling down and down the path until suddenly you are back home again.
If you enjoyed the first one, this is worth the read. I find the series interesting and, combined with her writing style, unique. Enjoy sweet romance? Enjoy time travel? Enjoy books really about women? Consider giving this one a shot.
