The Lies of Locke Lamora: A Book Review

Written by Scott Lynch, this novel follows Locke Lamora, a very skilled thief, as he navigates a changing city and leads his merry gang.

This book is RAVED ABOUT by so many fantasy reviewers (I’m looking at you Booktube), and I’m not going to set the bar so high for this book.

Locke, and every character in this book, is fantastic and so well well written, and honestly, this novel reminds me a lot of The Count of Monte Cristo, at least the English translation, which I love reading.

However, it takes a long time to get to the motivation in this book, and honestly, I didn’t care about what happened to these characters other than to keep reading about their antics. I, personally, would rather see these characters serialized and read about all of their adventures (and be a bit more invested when things start to go wrong) than read this as a trilogy.

Unpopular opinion, I know. But it is my opinion.

If you enjoy adventure, mystery, lies, skilled gangs, I think this could be a really fun, enjoyable read for you.

It is one of the best written fantasy novels I have read recently, the plot was just a bit missing for me.
