The Unmaking of Them: A Book Review

Written by H.A. Watson, The Unmaking of Them follows Art (Artemis) and Verick as they navigate how to deal with the piece of Sevan now slowly trying to take over Art, and hopefully save the world as well.

Art is in England (I think) to work at an art museum and help support her aunt and cousin back in the States when, by chance, an evil works into her museum and she is the only one left alive after resisting the magic. Verick shows up and whisks her away to try to save her, and the two end up falling in love.

This is a monster romance, this isn’t a beauty and the beast story. Second, the writing in this novel reminds me of Chauncy Rogers (it’s okay if you don’t know who that is) with the head dive into the horror and the way the story meanders a tish and, to my reader’s mind, keeps you in the dark and just starts to build out the world enough to tell the story.

This is a very literary story. If you are more of a fast-fiction, pop fiction you may not like the pacing and writing style here. I enjoyed it, I just want more of an ending than we got hint hint.
