Blood and Ash: A Book Review

Written by Deborah Wilde, this novel follows Ashira, a seemingly human Private Detective in a world with those with elemental powers, her long-time frenemy Levi being their leader, who learns there are a lot more strings and happenings than she was ever made aware of. Starting with herself and missing children.

WARNING, THERE IS ADULT CONTENT IN THIS NOVEL.

This book was okay, with a very sassy leading lady and a lot of action, the plot moved along at a good pace and I loved Levi’s character. Honestly, could have done without Ash at all, as she was just too much of the sassy kind-of-but-not-actually-morally grey. How her powers work was really interesting, and I think I’ll continue on the series just for Levi alone, but overall it is a book that will scratch the urban fantasy itch.

If you are looking for a fast past, dialog-heavy narrative with a sassy female lead and a hot male lead who is steady and sure, it could be worth your time and scratch that itch. It wasn’t the best read in that category, but it was decent.
