Written by Eva Leigh, The Sea Witch follows Alys, a woman who is sentenced to die as a witch after her sister’s death. Upon learning this, she takes a boat and the women she has created a coven with and they become female Pirates.
The rest of the book takes place years later, as Alys, now a captain of her pirate ship The Sea Witch, is summoned for a funeral and reading for another pirate, and so begins our pirate tale.
We have some romance, and if you enjoy a pirate story then I think you will enjoy this. As for me, there were scenes that I enjoyed reading, but a lot of the story was a bit hard to catch my attention. The magic, particularly working within the men in the story, was VASTLY interesting, to see this author’s version of witch vs warlock, and how those powers and implications actually vary.
With that, I do want to read the next book in this series, as the cliff hanger leaves you not just wanting more of the romance, but to see what The Big Bad has for the future, and how the witches are going to stop it.
I do think if you enjoy magic and The Pirates of the Caribbean, this is going to be a fun read for you.
I did receive a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
