Written by Kaylee Archer, Witch of the Wolves follows Cordelia, a witch living with her Aunt after the death of her mother, as she discovers she is actually half werewolf and her father wants her to come home.
First and foremost – I enjoy that this book did have some real twists and turns, however the eventual love interest Bishop was both obvious and surprisingly complicated. The writing was well passed, and kept me in the book so that I finished this in 2 sittings.
With that being said, Cordelia falls into the ‘we will have the character make decisions that don’t actually make sense so that the plot goes where we want it to go’. If you don’t read a lot of werewolf books, or are looking for another to scratch that itch, this is a fun read. I found it very werewolf-trope filled, but that isn’t a bad thing. There were a number of things that I guessed, but this book really was good in the second half when we get to see more of the world of creatures and not just an artificially made sweet place that Cordelia’s father has created and controlled.
Overall, it was a fun read. I enjoyed the setting (hello Victorian England) and the twist in the relationships between different creatures. I’m not sure if I will read any future books in the series, but if I do it is just for Bishop.
I did receive a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher.
