The Healer: A Book Review

Written by Sharon Sala, this novel follows Jonah, a man who can heal animals and people, and Luce, Lucia who has stalker leaving cryptic messages, as they struggle to get past their own hunters.

This isn’t a new novel, published in 2008, and is a “suspenseful romance”, which means there is romance in this novel. This is the kind that, while not appropriate for under 13, really isn’t bad for adults and doesn’t go into too much detail.

What I liked about the book: I really enjoyed the relationship between Jonah and Luce. Honestly, I didn’t need the “suspense” at all. People hunting them down, murders, killing, honestly that was just dragging to try and get through. The first chapter – maybe it was the first few – of the background for who Jonah was just was difficult to get through and I didn’t find it interesting. As soon as Luce comes into the picture, for me, it got a lot more interesting.

And this is a romance novel. And it does a good job of making the romance the most interesting part of the story.

So, who would like this? Fans of sweet romance. Of the tall, dark, handsome, sweet male lead. I’d take my own Jonah, even if he couldn’t heal all the wounds.
