Ill Wind: A Book Review

Written by Rachel Caine, Ill Wind follows Joanne as she races to stay alive and find someone who can help her get rid of the demon mark. Also, she is a Weather Warden and has the ability to influence/control the weather. And there are Djinn.

I loved this book. Rachel Caine was such a fantastic writer, and her characters just are so wonderfully realistic, and I think one of the things that really benefited this book is that there weren’t a whole pile of characters, which really allowed this book to be about Joanne and her struggle.

And David, we can’t forget about David.

Overall, if you are a fan of urban fantasy – even, I think, maybe super heroes – and are okay with some romance, then this is a great book. Sassy characters that don’t push the sass over the top, a plot line that keeps you going, and a lot of twists and turns make this a great adventure story to read. If you are okay with romance.

*HERE YE, HERE YE, BELOW HERE ARE SPOILERS FOR THIS BOOK*

Should be a safe distance now – I knew that David was a Djinn pretty early on, and when we found out that Jo had broken a bottle with the whole situation, I figured out where he came from too. I think the only slight downfall of this book as that, now let me be clear that I love David, the two of them were a fast whorl-wind if ever there was one. I also suspected Star, but not nearly soon enough to be able to brag about it.

Also, Lewis… I kept wondering of Jo would get back with Lewis, but that does seem like a recipe for disaster – literally. Which is too bad as they seem to have a lot of chemistry.

Now, personally, I am in a debate with myself if I will read the other 7 or 8 books in this series. Because if Jo and David don’t stay together, I will be very, very upset.

But, seriously, loved this book. Oh, so very much!
