Time to admit something: I am trying to find a reason to dislike Some Girls Bite by Chloe Neill. I just finished, well, recently finished the first in her sequel series to Chicagoland Vampires, Wild Hunger, and that one was just okay. The characters and world were hard to believe. This one, this one is much better.
I am only 50 or so pages in, and I am having to struggle not to pick it up and not put it down until I finish. Alas, chores and work do exist.
This, so far, is the kind of urban fantasy I enjoy. Light, with light characters and a good amount of mystery. It has vampires, with a name like that I expect nothing less, but it doesn’t seem to have fallen into the troupes that the last book I read did. Which is good. So far it still has some, but they make the characters interesting and the writing is flowing and rather addictive. Embarrassingly so.
