The Fixer Upper: A Book Review

This sweet rom-com (romantic comedy) caught my heart and really didn’t let it go.Written by Maggie Mae Gallegher, The Fixer Upper (affiliate link) is about a woman who has inherited her great-aunt’s house and the sheriff who lives next door. Really, could you ask for anything sweeter?

Abby, our main character is a professor (if I am remembering correctly – its been a hot minute) who came to town looking for a break from her demanding family who are disappointed in her for not going into the sciences. Nate is the local sheriff who hasn’t found love since he moved back to his home town. Plus there is a lovable great dane.

In all, this book was just way, wayy too enjoyable and one of those really happy reads. The characters had a lot of depth – and no unrealistic supporting characters – and felt like you could find them around the corner of any town. They felt like real people who were entertaining and you cared what happened to them.

If you enjoy a good romance, this is the one for you.

This is a stop on the Expresso Tour (click to see the other stops) and they did provide me with a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. And, honestly, I think this is getting a 5/5 for me. It just was sweet and hit all of the right notes.
