Written by Rachel Harrison, Rory has returned home to help out her pregnant sister, but finds herself attacked by a monster and dealing with the consequences.
First, IT’S A WEREWOLF BOOK! Tis a lovely, somewhat bloody, werewolf book.
Rory is definitely a main character who has a lot of ghosts and demons in her past, but honestly I think she is a character that a number of people can relate to. Perhaps not all the time, but at different points throughout this story.
There is some romance, some fighting, some reconciliation, and a lot of growth.
The love interest was WONDERFUL, and I loved him oh so very much. And Rory’s relationship with her sister was sweet and just fantastic to read about as well.
The writing style isn’t a detailed type, but moves at a good pace through the story, and is written in true first person lingering on what, I believe, most people would linger on in those moments, and frequently what folks would actually be thinking, with back story to clue the rest of us in as needed.
This isn’t going to scratch your itch if you are looking for a spicey romance, but this book was a wonderful werewolf read for a monster fan and I think something fresh, or rather not touched on in a long time.
Highly recommend this werewolf read.
